Anchored To Truth – Foundations Of The Faith focuses on Christian doctrine – a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by the Christian Church. The Bible teaches us the foundational truths of our faith and how they are essential for spiritual growth. Each of the eight lessons in this Bible study addresses a different truth, examining how it challenges the perceptions and lifestyles shaped by the world around us. As the world continues to challenge the words of Scripture, we must hold on to these foundational beliefs in order to discern truth. Be sure to check out my weekly blog for more information on each of these topics.

Individual Lessons

Lesson 1: Creation
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Why are these words so foundational to our faith and crucial to the rest of Scripture? The world has attempted to make these words obsolete, but we must anchor ourselves to the truth that in the beginning was God and He created everything.

Lesson 2: Design
We must anchor ourselves to the truth that God designed everything in creation with a purpose. That purpose is to bring Him glory. Men and women were created to bear the image of God, but we must seek to live out His design in order to do that. To reject His design is to not live for His purpose.

Lesson 3: Sin
At some point in our lives we have all become aware of our tendency to sin. Sin is not just something we do, it’s something we struggle to overcome, but why? The doctrine of original sin is foundational to the Christian faith.

Lesson 4: The Law
God’s law reflects the character of God. In it we see God’s holiness and our sinfulness. The law without Christ is bad news, but with Christ it is our delight. The doctrine of God’s law is foundational to the Christian faith.

Lesson 5: Jesus
The doctrine of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. That’s why it is so important that our understanding of who Jesus is comes from Scripture and not from the unbelieving world around us.

Lesson 6: The Bible
The doctrine of the inerrancy of Scripture is foundational to the Christian faith. How you view Scripture has a huge impact on how you view God and the world around you. The Holy Bible is God’s authoritative and inerrant Word.

Lesson 7: Justification
The doctrine of justification is foundational to the Christian faith. Creation, design, sin, and the law all point to our great need for justification. The Word of God is where we find God’s perfect plan throughout history to justify believer through Jesus Christ.

Lesson 8: Sanctification
The doctrine of sanctification is foundational to the Christian faith. Just as humans and animals undergo a transformative journey from birth to adulthood, so too does our spiritual life flourish as we walk with Christ.
